Who Are You?

spiritual provision and protection comes by praying for yourself and your family
Who Are You?

By Peter Meyer

The Prophet:

In your home you are called by God to be the prophet! Yes, you, the man in the house, as you follow the Lord, are to walk in obedience in whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to be part of. It is your responsibility to lead in the family setting, not only in the sense of provision and protection in the natural, but Spiritual provision and protection!

For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged.” 1 Corinthians 14:31.

This verse gives us purpose – to speak God's truth, offer comfort, build up the community of faith in our home, and teach our family and others about God. We need to stay away from speaking curses and scolding, instead, in love we can declare the promises of God over our family.

family prayer time, reading the Bible together,

The Priest:

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.” 1 Peter 2:9.

As Jesus is our example, we are to teach our loved ones about the Lord, by our own reading and learning the Word daily. When we present ourselves as a living sacrifice to the Lord, we can be assured of His Grace and favour over us. With that in mind we can lead prayer in our homes every day. By doing this, we can demonstrate how to pray by verbalising our prayers in front of our family. Why? So that our children can learn how we communicate with our Abba Father.

In my own experience when trouble has come charging in, it was because I had stopped covering my family in prayer. Now as we are set to leave the house, we pray a simple prayer together, “Lord Jesus we declare Your protection over us as we go about today. Protect us from the evil one and his attacks, by the power of the Holy Spirit, Amen.”

The King of the Home:

Don’t get any ideas of sitting your butt on the couch and being served at your every beck and call. Remember Jesus came from a position of absolute reign, to being placed in a manger – an impoverished birth – to bring God’s eternal Love to all of us! The original and best gift for mankind!

We are called to emulate Christ as king in our homes by sacrificing and serving our families. Let’s not limit ourselves there, instead we can share our love of the Lord with others in our community.

going fishing and chatting about life, faith, Jesus,

There comes a time when our own understanding of the Word no longer answers the questions from our children. I have friends who have been able to share with my son while we have been out fishing or cycling together. This is where Godly brothers step up in serving our families and friends. We all have different gifts and talents (e.g. tradies, doctors, lawyers etc) so be courageous and reach out as the Holy Spirit prompts you!

Let’s be teaching our young men to be Prophet, Priest and King in their homes as they mature in Christ Jesus.

Blessings,
Peter Meyer

Watch How to Bless Your Family and How to Pray for Your Family by Peter Meyer

Blessing Your Family and Praying for God’s Protection

It’s powerful to stand in the gap and pray for your family. Here’s a prayer for protection and blessing for yourself and your family.

Heavenly Father, I come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up myself and my family to you. We acknowledge You as our King, our Protector, and our Provider.

Lord, we declare that we “dwell in the secret place of the Most High” and “abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” I say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

We plead and apply the precious blood of Jesus Christ over our lives, our spirits, our bodies, and the doorposts of our home. We thank You that we “overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.” [Click Here to Continue Reading]Blessing Your Family and Praying for God’s Protection
