Sing Praise to God
We’ve been singing a song in our fellowship “In the Mighty name of Jesus, I pray”. While there are many worship songs that lift us, inspire us and declare the love and power of our God, this song has stirred me up.
Each verse we sing has a powerful declaration:
Calling on the power of Heaven, I proclaim
Every weapon formed against me, it must break
In the mighty name of Jesus
I will not fear, I will not fear
When the enemy comes near
On the door frame of my life
Is the blood of Jesus Christ
Oh, I will not fear, I will not fear
There's an army of angels here
I'm protected on all sides
By the blood of Jesus Christ.
Amen to these powerful words.
This year while I attended the Promise Keepers event in Auckland, I could feel the Wairua lift in the room, there’s something about singing with men in worship, standing with Godly Men. Our voices become one as we sing and worship in harmony. The worship leaders and choir were amazing, so it was easy to soak amongst the brethren.
I’m often brought to tears while I worship as God moves in my spirit and as I just stand with my hands high glorifying the King of Kings, thanking Him for the many blessings. It is said that a song can take us back to a time and place in our lives.
In our own home we often play worship music to cut through some of the day’s busyness and burdens, it brings peace and a great balance.
We all have our own style when we worship because it’s personal to you, it’s okay to dance, take a knee or just rest in His presence. This is such an important element when we’re walking with Jesus.
“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvellous deeds among all peoples.
For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.” Amen (Psalm 96:1-4).
All Black, Ardie Savea listens to worship and faith-based music to find comfort, to focus and to express his gratitude for his family and career. He finds that his worship music, along with reading his Bible, is a crucial part of his personal journey to "fill his cup" and maintain a strong connection to Jesus.
Singing to the Lord shifts our focus off us and unto the Lord where it belongs and to the only One who can truly help. It reminds us of the hope we have, that this life is not all there is. God inhabits the praises of His people, and in His presence, there is joy forevermore.
So, whether you’re at Church, in the car or at mahi – Sing to the Lord.
Manaaki te atua - God Bless.
