As we approach the end of 2024, we also come to the end of PKNZ 30th year anniversary. It has been a wonderful year to reflect on God’s faithfulness through this ministry.
The Auckland August event was a celebration to remember for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it closed off the 30-year chapter of a ministry that survived through the 2008 GFC, and the 2020 pandemic, amongst many other challenges. As we honoured the men who pioneered the ministry here, who are what I call the Generals, at the same time we ushered in a new chapter for PKNZ.
Secondly, the reactivation was marked by a special time of worship, encouragement, and spiritually laying down the groundwork for what is to come in the next season. I fundamentally believe, the Father wants us to focus on these three things:
- To worship Him in spirit and in truth, (John 4:23),
- to pray without ceasing, (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and
- to disciple His men. (Matthew 28:19).
After speaking to the Samaritan woman at the well, Jesus turned to His disciples and said, “… lift your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!” (John 4:35).
It’s easy to be disheartened if we put too much focus on the issues of today; the rise and the evil of secularism in society, the rapid changes in government policies that affects how we live, work, and express our Christian faith, not to mention the economic challenges. But we serve the Almighty God who reigns in the whole universe, He is “The Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End” (Revelation 22:13).
For the coming season, we will focus our eyes on Jesus, for He will guide, direct, and provide wisdom and resources for us to continue. In times of great need, the first place to look is what we have on hand and ask the Lord to bless and multiply.
The Set Free initiative has seen a significant growth in the past 24 months of men whose lives have been changed through the Freedom Fight series. Some of these men have become facilitators, leading other men through months of discipleship to set them free from p*rn addiction. We want to multiply this work into the churches, but we need more facilitators and leaders. We need resources to provide adequate support. Our current capacity is limited compared to the size of the p*rn issues in the church today, in both young and old. This is a tremendous need we cannot ignore. Our ask is $118,000 to expand the work and create new content.
We are updating our very popular men’s group Bible study guides to make more available digitally. We are looking for contributors to help put these together. The ask is $17,500.
We are launching PK’s online magazine, called Axiom. It’s designed to challenge, inform, and confront topics not easily tackled within the confinement of the four walls of the church including PKNZ’s parameters. It will push the envelope beyond boundaries to address the peripherals where men are affected directly and indirectly. Within Axiom will be Axiom insight (Ai), a platform that will foster open conversations on issues that matter to the heart of the Father, and at the same time, challenge the status quo. The ask is $70,000.
We will work with our PK local leaders to ramp up local events. Its primary focus is to strengthen the local church. What I’ve come to observe is this; for PK to be effective in its mission, it needs to do more work with the local churches, big and small. PK is a parachurch and it does not set out to take the place of the church. The evidence is that when men are close to God and His Word, families, communities, and the local church thrive.
I’m going to lay this challenge down for those who believe in the work of this ministry, to partner with us. From November 2024 until 31 March 2025, we want to raise a total of $202,500 to begin this new chapter of PKNZ in 2025.
