Knocking on Heaven’s Door

Knocking on the door to heaven. Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

The heart of God’s redemptive plan is simple yet profound: salvation is not a distant mystery but an open invitation. In Matthew 7:7 Jesus declares, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

These words are a promise, assuring us that those who truly desire God will find Him through faith in Christ. Salvation is the door to eternal life, and Jesus is the key.

The journey begins with asking. To ask is to acknowledge our need for God, humbly seeking forgiveness and grace. It is an act of surrender, recognising that we cannot save ourselves. As Romans 10:13 promises, “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Through Christ, every plea for mercy is met with God’s abundant grace.

Next comes seeking. Salvation is not merely a single moment; it is a lifelong pursuit of knowing and following God. As we seek Him in Scripture, prayer, and daily living, we discover the truth that transforms us. Psalm 34:10 reminds us, “The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” Seeking God leads to a life of spiritual abundance.

Finally, salvation requires knocking – a persistent desire to enter into fellowship with God. Jesus assures us in John 10:9, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved.” Knocking shows faith that the door will open and confidence in the One who opens it.

The call is simple: Ask, seek, knock. Salvation is freely offered, but it must be received with an open heart. As John Bunyan wrote, “There is more grace in Christ than sin in you.” Will you step through the door He has opened? Eternity waits.
