Jesus in the War Zones of Life

by Norm McLeod - The reason God can use me in warzones is because He set me free from my own inner personal warzones in my own soul.

1 Peter 2:11 - "Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul"

It is not because I am an expert on conflict resolution or that I have great courage, on the contrary, my secret is knowing in my weakness and dependency on His strength perfect.

1 John 3:20-21 - "For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God"

I walk into war zones with confidence… because my heart condemns me not.

• I’ve been honoured to be a speaker at PK for years, ministered to men on dozens of altar calls. Most common issues are around guilt and shame because of lust and porn.
• By the grace of God I’m going to share keys to free men of inner sin that condemns them, not just deal with “outward fruits” but to identify and “kill the inner roots.”

Berating men to try harder, pray longer, fast more, be holier only produces guilt motivated, shame motivated or fear motivated Christians.

FINDING JESUS IN THE WAR ZONE.
The first war zone was in my thought life, in my burning lustful emotional desires.

1 Peter 2:11 - fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

• SELF SOUL: MIND - thoughts, memories EMOTIONS - desires, feelings, entitled to a “little sin”.

• That’s your first war zone. You already have VICTORY in your spirit. When you SURRENDER your SOUL “thoughts and desires” to your spirit you get the victory your soul.

2 Cor 10:6 - And we will be ready to punish every act of (outward) disobedience, once your (inward) obedience is complete.

PRACTICALLY HOW IT WORKS:

• What you gaze upon you become. Who you believe you are you become. We choose to believe truth or a lie.

Romans 6:11 - "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord."

2 Cor 3:18 - "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

When a selfish lustful thought comes into your imagination – Triggers when see s*x image on TV - girl down the street - or a memory of p*rn in your mind… ARE YOU THERE?

Understand your Spirit is pure – yield your thoughts to your pure spirit…

IN YOUR WEAKNESS: Say -

1. Holy Spirit help me surrender to my pure mind and heart.
2. Visualise yourself surrendering to Christ's purity in you – “DO IT”
3. MOTIVE: You truly love Jesus more than yourself.

This is finding Jesus in your personal war zone. In the areas of your soul you struggle with, surrender to your spirit that doesn’t struggle.

Phil 4:8 - "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

Co 3:1-2 - "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."
