Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.
There is a kind of strength that does not shout, and a kind of life that does not fade.
We live in a world that worships hurry. Our calendars groan with commitments and our minds rarely rest. But the life God blesses is not one of constant motion. It is not measured by pace but by depth. The godly are not scattered like chaff on the wind. They are like trees planted by rivers, hidden, rooted, nourished by stillness.
To follow God is to resist the pressure to be everywhere and everything. It is to walk not with the world’s advice but with the wisdom of His Word. The righteous are not driven by trends but drawn by truth. They do not make noise for attention but grow quietly in obedience. Their fruit is not frantic. It comes in season. It comes in trust.
Resilience marks them. Their leaves do not wither, not because they never face storms but because their strength is not surface deep. Even in drought, their roots remember the river. They do not escape suffering, but they are not undone by it. What holds them is not their effort but their source.
And they move with purpose. Not all activity is godliness. The godly prosper not because they are busy, but because they are aligned. They walk with God, not ahead of Him. They live from presence not pressure. As Jesus said, “Abide in Me and I in you… for without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:4-5).
Thomas Brooks once wrote, “The godly man lives not by chance but by choice, not by impulse but by faith.” So must we, if we are ever to grow like trees beside the river.
