An Invitation to Worship God

Prayer and Worship to God, dedication to God, sold out for Jesus, life of worship, worship leader,

Everyday Offers Opportunities to Honour and Worship God.

In my years of being involved in the worship area of church life, I have discovered that the more time I spend in God’s presence, the more I am changed and start to care about the things He cares about.

To me, worship is loving God through the process of serving Him and doing His will. Worship is service. Worship is lifestyle. Worship is choice. Worship is sacrifice. Worship is relationship - with God and with others.

The truth is that worship is all of who you are. Romans 12:1-2 says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

This passage encourages us to be conscious that the way we live our daily lives is worship. Don’t reduce your definition of worship to singing on a Sunday.

We often compartmentalise God because we can’t handle true sacrifice or we can’t handle the truth of who God really is. Our 21st century church culture has shrunk God down to a size that fits neatly into our busy, action-packed lives.

The true message of the cross is all consuming and will ruin our organised and structured life. It will cause us to get uncomfortable in a comfortable world. Oh God, let us be people who are uncomfortable in a world of comfort!

I am not a singer of worship songs. I am not a musician who plays worship music. I am a worshipper, and everything I do is worship.

Let’s get away from this concept of “Sunday worship” but rather, let’s aim to live a “lifestyle of worship”.

The most powerful worship you can give to God comes from the core of who you are. It’s speaking well. It’s laying down your pride to prefer someone else.

It’s being the first to say sorry. It’s working hard when your boss is away for the day. It’s playing with your kids when you’d rather be fishing. It’s taking your wife for coffee when you’d rather be tinkering in your man cave. It’s spending time with God when you’d rather be watching the cricket.

And remember this as you do it: “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” (Colossians 3:23).

Let’s all start to see every moment - every interaction with another, every task be it great or small - as a chance to worship our Creator. To ascribe greatness to Him in our actions and our deeds. To live as Christ lived - the greatest servant of all.
