September 9th marked a significant day on the calendar for Christian radio and television broadcasting in New Zealand.
I had the privilege of attending Luke Weston’s commissioning to be Rhema Media’s new Chief Executive. Promise Keepers Chairman, Nick Tuitasi also attended this commissioning with me.
As I sat through the ceremony, I reflected on how important Rhema Media is, as a Christian ministry in this nation. I was involved very briefly in the early 2000’s with UCB Pacific Partners, and it had a close relationship with Rhema. It was then I saw how vitally significant radio ministry is.
I also thought about how important it is to pray for the leaders of many Christian ministries in this great nation of ours. Rhema Media and its leaders are one that needs a lot of prayer and support.
As they were putting the Korowai around Luke’s shoulders to signify his new heights of leadership, I quietly took out my phone to take a photo to capture the special moment. In my heart I felt the Lord was saying at that moment, “I’ve also captured this moment”. The waiata, the prayers, words of affirmation and encouragement were wonderful. I thought, of course the Father is looking down on His son, taking on one of the most significant roles there is.
It warmed my heart to see colleagues of Luke take a stand to support him. This is a significant time in our lives as Christians, to proclaim the gospel to millions of New Zealanders. Rhema Media through radio and television broadcasting is doing its part, and what a big part it is.
Let’s keep Luke and all his colleagues in prayer for protection and provision to keep the ministry going. In the Kingdom of God, there is power in numbers.
We congratulate Luke in his appointment, and may the Lord keep him and his family safe, and this ministry strong, impacting lives for Jesus.
