Alive in Christ: Incredible testimonies from PK Auckland!

by Peter Meyer

The day before this Promise Keepers Auckland Event marked the eighth anniversary of my family’s journey to New Zealand. Boarding that plane and moving to a new country, I could never have imagined that one day I would be part of such a Holy Spirit-filled event.

In March, PK’s Candice and I began working on the event. I had never organised an event of this size, so there was a lot to learn. The first major task was choosing the speakers. As the weeks flew by and everything started coming together, I was incredibly grateful for Candice. She showed me the ropes, was instrumental in so many discussions, and helped with such grace.

Then came the Friday morning prayer meetings with Andy, Rodney, Grant, and I on Zoom. But those weren’t the only meetings; there were coffee catch-ups, mentoring sessions, and every one of them was covered in prayer.

Next were the invitation phone calls to group leaders and sponsors who had previously supported the event. Some of those calls absolutely blew my mind – the prayers, the generosity, the financial blessings that left me stammering, “Please… can you say that again?” Their willingness to sow life into the Kingdom was all the encouragement I needed. Thank you.

Musicians praise Jesus by playing their instruments at Promise Keepers Auckland

As the Lord began to move me in the Spirit, He asked me a question: “What does this ministry mean to you, and how much do the men of New Zealand mean to you?” The only way I could respond was through deeper prayer and fasting, fasting to the point of becoming physically crook and needing to regain strength so I could function on the day.

During the band rehearsal the night before the PK Event, I received a word from the Lord: “Be aware in the Spirit, because I am going to move tomorrow.” I already had an expectation that the Holy Spirit would be with us, but this word confirmed it and settled my spirit.

I must also mention that Candice worked late into Friday night on the presentations we saw on the screen. I never heard her complain once.

Then there were the volunteers, so many people who sacrificed their time to make this event happen. Thank you for walking in obedience. We could not have accomplished nearly as much without you.

500 men standing together in worship at Promise Keepers

Saturday morning, 7:45am, standing around chatting, I asked someone to open the day in prayer. Again, I felt the assurance of the Holy Spirit with us.

As the venue doors opened, we all got busy with registrations, handing out event wristbands, and of course… coffee.

One gentleman shared that as soon as he entered through the doors, he began to weep. The presence of the Lord came upon him, and he sensed a shift in his spirit. When he came to greet me, I could see the joy on his face – he had been moved deeply. Thank you, Jesus, for his sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

The worship team took ordinary songs and turned them into glorious praises to the Lord. They were such a blessing, leading us into His presence. Each session built toward the singing of the National Anthem – 500 men in unison, singing it like a praise song. Beautiful. And whoever started the “Jesus” chant just before that – thank you.

Prayer at Promise Keepers, ministry to men,

All the speakers were on point, preaching Jesus. There were so many gems in each message, and the panellists were equally sharp. Visit our Promise Keepers NZ YouTube page in the coming weeks to hear these messages again. If you were unable to attend, please watch them – there will be nuggets for you to take away.

One testimony came from a father who travelled to Auckland to attend the event. During a prayer time in the afternoon, he was praying for a young man he’d just met and discovered how his son had blessed this young man at college.

Other men said there was a sense of expectation and excitement throughout the whole day, leaving them refreshed and restored.

Then there was the story of a man who arrived drunk and waited in the car park for the meeting. He was led to sit next to an older gentleman who embraced him and began praying over him. That man received Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. Amen.

To all the men who turned upthank you. To all those who pray for Promise Keepers – thank you too.

I trust you received revelation from the Lord on the day. If you have a testimony, please share it with us. We would love your feedback.

Blessings,
Peter Meyer

Men sing praise to God at Promise Keepers Alive in Christ Event in Auckland at Church Unlimited

What the men are saying…

“The PK event was truly transformational. God's Spirit touched the hearts and lives of men who were hungry for Him.

We heard raw, unfiltered testimonies of the transformative grace of God at work in the lives of everyday men, and we had the opportunity to share our hearts and pray for one another, while reflecting on the word that was taught.

I left knowing that I had an encounter with God, that I had some new connections with other brothers, and that I was equipped with practical tools and challenged to apply what I was taught and so make a difference in my family and the world around me.”
