Path to Life-Changing Transformation

I started this course with five guys, and it began a life-changing transformation.

Let’s Fight Together to Win the Battle

The Set Free initiative was started by former PKNZ Director Paul Monahan back in 2016 when Paul decided to bring a course called Conquer to New Zealand shores. The Conquer series then was a faith-based program consisting of five videos and a workbook that a group of men would work through to start dealing with the issue of p*rn*graphy use and its tendency to cause an addiction.

I started this course with five guys, and it began a life-changing transformation. I personally had tried many other things before finding freedom with a group of guys seeking the same result. This journey requires tight relationships where honesty, transparency and accountability are the basis on which we start to live a different way.

Set Free today has impacted many men all over New Zealand. Currently we are using a resource called Freedom Fight (FF) which is an online biblically based resource. It is funded by donations, so everyone with internet access can start a course. The need is great, and we need many more leaders to help in the role of facilitating and supporting groups of guys out of p*rn*graphy addictions. When a guy gets off p*rn*graphy his whole world is redefined, not to mention his marriage, his family and his relationships.  It’s not an easy road but it becomes far more achievable when you are journeying together with other men who want to achieve the same result, and you fight together to win the battle.

In 2 Timothy 2:22, it says “Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” This scripture sums up what the Set Free initiative is all about.

Recently, Ray Hart completed facilitating a group with five other new Freedom Fighters. Ray did FF with me finishing in 2023. Our prayer is that many men will come to freedom and will go on to facilitate other groups of guys to find freedom.

Our prayer is that many men will come to freedom and will go on to facilitate other groups of guys to find freedom.

Here is what three men said after completing Ray’s FF course:

“I was a p*rn addict for ten years. I have been off p*rn for over a year and a half now. I thought my struggle with p*rn was because I was not committed to JESUS enough but really, I struggled because I was isolated and trying to do it alone. I needed JESUS to be revealed to me through relationships with others. FF helped me face my fears and it gave me the support of others who have been through similar situations which was brilliant. The content of the FF itself I found comprehensive, insightful and challenging. I would recommend FF to anyone wanting to be free of a p*rn addiction or unwanted s*xual behaviour.” - Warwick

“I've been in a constant battle with s*xual addiction for over 25 years. In recent years I began to lose any realistic hope of being free, and started to see it as something I could keep hidden and manage. What I didn't realise, is my hidden shame and self-loathing found another route to the surface through anger, directly impacting the ones I love the most. It's not something I could keep hidden. I'm incredibly thankful for the FF course and the brothers I've journeyed with this year. For the first time in 25 years, I understand the root cause of my struggle, why it's been so hard to beat, and I finally have processes and tools in place that are effective. Most importantly, I understand the power of being honest and vulnerable with other men on the journey, and my total reliance on God for His grace and strength to choose to walk forward in freedom, every day.” - Jono

“The FF literally saved my life. Helped me to connect with God, do my repair work with my wife and be a better biblical husband and father and leader for my family. I would recommend it to all men wanting to break free from the shame and guilt p*rn/s*x addiction bring. It also helps you find healing from past trauma while getting to the root of the addiction.” - Edwin

As Frank has mentioned in his article last week, we can’t ignore this problem, and we need help to turn the tide of unwanted s*xual behaviour and p*rn addiction in our churches and in our society. Would you consider donating to PK to help this ministry grow? [Find out more here]
