Refiner’s Fire

What comes to mind when you hear of ‘refiner’s fire’? In one of our team meetings, some of the responses were awesome, e.g., trial by fire, what God does in our lives, healing, freedom from bondage, transformation, and so on.

Scriptures such as, “that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love.” (1 Peter 1:7-8).

Another scripture reference shared on the theme was, “I will bring the one-third through the fire, Will refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them. I will say, 'This is My people'; And each one will say, 'The Lord is my God.'” (Zechariah 13:9).

Refiner’s Fire is PKNZ’s theme for this year. After weeks of intentionally seeking the Lord, our board and team have heard from the Lord that this year we need to go after the One who is the Refiner. But it requires an active response from you and me.

It is the desire of His heart – for us to run, walk, crawl, or however we can get to Him. When we do, He promised that we will find Him, (Jeremiah 29:13). Yes, He was talking about Israel seeking Him, and finding Him. And this promise is also true for us, that we will find Him when we look for Him with all our heart.

On Saturday 2 August, we will be holding an event at Church Unlimited West Auckland. But we want more than just putting on an entertainment event. We are believing for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day. We are expecting God to show up, and when He does, there will be healing and freedom.

As it was with Gideon (in Judges 7), the Lord is calling His soldiers of 300 from the thousands. He wants our hearts to be bigger, softer, mouldable, and pure. It is only then He can use us for His glory.

This season, for many of us is a new chapter in the Lord. I want to invite you to join us in August. Until then, go after the heart of the Father. Seek His face day and night. It is your heart He is after.

“But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like launderers soap. He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness.” (Malachi 3:2-3)
