But Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back [to the things left behind] is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62 (AMP)
We talked about many things based on Psalm 37:4-5 this week: The value and importance of loving God with everything you have as we delight ourselves in Him. Tapping into the desires and dreams, He has placed within us. Committing to our goals and trusting God every step of the way.
I read a stat a while back that said about 6% of people actually pursue their dreams and goals. Many people who have dreams and goals tell everyone about them or think about them repeatedly, believing that one day it will all happen without ever taking the steps needed.
Whatever your dreams and goals are, there might be 1000 steps between where you are and where you want to be. If you focus all at once on the 1000 steps you need to take, then, of course, your goals are going to seem impossible to accomplish as you let fear cripple you from moving forward.
However, what if I told you that you don’t need to figure out step 1000 right now? You don’t even need to have step 500 figured out! In fact, I don’t even think you need to have step number 2 figured out. You just need to figure out the first step. Once you accomplish the first step, then figure out the next one you need to take. One step at a time seems much more realistic, doable and less scary.
What is the one step you need to take today to begin this journey of bringing your dreams into existence? For some, it might be sitting down with a pen and paper to actually write down passions, skills and motivations. For others, it might be making God the centre of our life.
